A 2018 study followed over 12,000 people who ate fruits and veggies at every meal or for snacks. Each subject showed a decrease in death rates for cancer, coronary artery disease and cerebrovascular disease such as stroke.
A diet high in fruits and veggies combined with moderate amounts of lean protein and good fats improved health in those studied. Even those who experienced health problems were helped by following these recommendations.
